Powdered Wig

So here's my wig in its final stage. It has a little plastic carriage in the front that you can't really see, but Ill eventually have more detailed pictures of it. For right now, you can just enjoy this Polaroid.

Print Fair

So my Nylon prints make yet another appearance.. at the Baltimore Museum of Art Print Fair! Like the series? Buy a print of your own cos they're for sale! Otherwise just come by and see what other great printmakers (and some photographers) are doing in Baltimore! MICA students are free and I believe the entrance fee is $20 otherwise. I'll be working at the "Works on Paper" table for MICA from 2:30 to 6:30 pm. Hope to see some familiar faces!

Last night I received a lovely birthday gift (it's my birthday on Wednesday) of the book Instant Light: Tarkovsky Polaroids. It features 60 Polaroids taken by Andrey Tarkovsky in Russia and Italy between 1979 and 1984. Each image has a poem or description. The Polaroids are absolutely gorgeous.

"Way out west, way out west...."

Headed west to see some fams in AZ. If it doesn't look like the pictured above i.e. animals running around in cowboy outfits, I'm going to be very disappointed.

Also, Happy Birthday Erik!

"Pretty Print"

So I've seen this print randomly before and have kept it in my archives because it's so nice. Then this weekend, it was featured on A Cup of Jo.
So tempting... alas, I have my eye on a few other things too. I'm so keeping this in mind though.

Happy Weekend!

Busy, busy, busy

So I've been pretty bust the past week and it's only going to get worse. I have a few projects due two weeks from now, but will have very little time to work on them for I am off to Arizona (for my last spring break ever!) to see family. As for my projects, they are for two classes that I was hoping would be a little more relaxing then they have turned out to be. The first is my intro to fibers class in which we have an accumulation project. And because I've been on such a Marie Antoinette kick, I decided I'd felt a powdered wig, mind you I have no idea what I'm doing. As for my other project, I'm in a book making class and will be making a long book out of origami cranes. I'll proved pictures at some point. As soon as I get back from spring break, I have to have prints done of the first series I posted on here for a print fair at the BMA (Baltimore Museum of Art). So much to do!

Random Image

Something I took with my nylon series, but don't normally include.

Gilt Groupe

Sometimes (namely always) I really wish I had money. Alas I do not. And for some reason, I signed myself up to get sale updates from Gilt Groupe (the 'e' and the end of 'groupe' is to make it look swanky and french), a site designed like a 'presale' for designers. New York Magazine had an article recently about the site where they questioned what Gilt Groupe would do to the retail and pricing of fashion.

Frankly I don't care. All I know is is that I still can't afford this stuff, most of the time. And even if I could, I can't justify spending $40 on a bangle. It's really hard to imagine the women mentioned in the article waiting at their cubicles for these sales to hit so they can rush to buy something that's probably still to rich for their blood.

A well, it doesn't hurt to look.

The Bounce

Everytime I remember this flashgame, I have to play it for the music alone.

The Bounce.

Whitney Biennial!

So it's the time of year for the Whitney Biennial. I'm pretty excited. Check out the link, or this video, for the artists showing this time around.

West Side

So I might be a little late in the game, but TCM is currently showing West Side Story, which I'm seeing for the first time.

And I decided I want to live there. Not the west side, per se, but the movie. Specifically one of the Puerto Rican women. They're surrounded by beautiful saturated colors and the 'slum' apartment building is pretty fantastic plus all the spunk and 'tude. I figure that will make up for the constant breaking out into song.

Also, most of the fighting is dance fighting, so that's pretty safe.

Photo Lecture

So today the photography department hosted a lecture by three very talented MICA grads: Daniel Shea, Jennifer Grimyser, and Rose Cromwell. Unfortunately, I pretty much missed the entire lecture, but I got an awesome impromptu crit from Daniel and Jennifer which was a highlight in my day.
